Mrs. Southerland is in her 11th year as an educator with Franklin County Schools, and she is thrilled to be working on her first year as a member of the Red Ram family. After graduating from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, she spent several years at Long Mill Elementary. During her time at LoMES, she was nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2016 and again in 2022. She is excited to continue working with students in the Franklin County community in her new role at FHS. While she is originally from Williamsburg, Va, she is proud to call Franklin County home now with her husband, Patrick, who is an educator at Vance Granville Community College. Outside of school, Mrs. Southerland enjoys family time with her two children, playing with her 2 dogs, and volunteering at church.
